Before I get into it, let’s compare the two designs against each other

Claude made this version of the same layout for me.

I make treatments without AI already pretty fast…

So why then did I try this? I have been making layouts for presentations FOREVER, and not only am I fast but I have memorized certain design sysytems and grids that are flawless and work everytime. BUT! I must admit I get bored reusing something over and over again just because it works. So I tried using AI to remix a design I already had.

What I found frustrating about using Claude

I am a Graphic Designer by trade, so again, I am already really fast at using the computer apps and tools myself to visually acheive what I want.

Constantly prompting Claude to change small items like: changing the opacity down on the overlay gradients, moving image frames up a quarter inch, centering text instead of having it justified, and removing design elements I did not like were a BIG TIME DRAIN. I could have done those tweaks and iterations WAYYYYY faster if I was making them myself and didnt have to prompt every tiny visual change I wanted to see.

I eventually stopped, and didn’t even finish all the tweaks I would have made if this was really going to client and not just an AI personal experiment.

If I wasn’t already a graphic designer? Who knows? Maybe I would not have been as frustrated as quickly knowing I can make these changes myself faster than I can prompt.

Where I find value in this process

This is pretty helpful to me overall not as a finished presentation ready to go but rather an inspiring starting point.

Using this and then rebuilding certain elements I like for my own layouts is helpful.

Having AI essentially remix my own designs into a new version helps me come up with new layout ideas faster while still keeping certain aesthetics and tones intact.

I am always trying to find innovative ways to use AI as a tool to help me do my job much faster and keep my ideas fresh and on trend with what clients and agencies are expecting to see.

I think I will come and revist using claude code for layouts again. AI rapidly changes and what I might have found frustrating 3 months ago now has a solve.

As of now it definitly has helped me get the brain juices flowing and has helped me come up with my own new design ideas just by interacting with it in the way.

I joke sometimes after interacting with AI the way I do, that it is teaching me just as much as I am teaching it. It really makes me feel like I am the orignal AI. weird matrix-vibes, but fun thought.
